'Fifty Shades of Grey' New Movie News: Two Sequels Slated for Release in 2017 & 2018
It would be really hard for the fans of the hit movie franchise 'Fifty Shades of Grey' to hope for a sequel if there is nothing confirming their anxieties. Luckily, Universal Pictures just announced that there will be not just one but two sequels coming soon.
At the recent CinemaCon last Thursday, April 23, the studio has announced through Chairman Donna Langley that 'Fifty Shades Darker' and 'Fifty Shades Freed' will be happening in the years to come. The former will premiere on February 10, 2017 while the latter will have the schedule to premiere on February 9, 2018.
The movie franchise, which received a whopping $248.7 Million globally upon opening on Valentine's Day this year, is anticipated to be even more of a blockbuster in the next two new movies that was just officially announced.
What's also exciting for the fans is that the film will retain its two hit lead stars for the two sequels. Jamie Dornan who plays Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson who plays Anastasia Steele will both be appearing back on the big screens this 2017.
Although it might seem like a long time from now, there are already initial moves on the film project starting with announcing that there will be a change of director. Apparently, the director for 'Fifty Shades of Grey', Sam Taylor-Johnson will be replaced in the two sequels to come.
It is still unknown as to who will replace him but there will be someone who will be taken in to contribute to one of the most important areas in the film and that is its script writer. It has been confirmed that the Book author E.L. James got her husband Niall Leonard to be the script writer for the upcoming sequel.
Indeed, it is seemingly more exciting as all film officials are sure to work in such a way that stitches everything and hopefully produces yet another blockbuster erotic film.
