‘FIFA 2016’ Update News: Women Finally Make it into EA Sports’ Soccer Video Game Franchise [VIDEO]
Here is some good news for the "FIFA" video game fans. Women have eventually made it into a game for the first time in the 22-year-old history of the soccer video game franchise. This will enable gamers to play as women's national teams in "FIFA 2016."
According to a report in IB Times, henceforth, players can opt from 12 teams, counting Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden and the United States and play each of them in several game modes, including Kick Off, an offline tournament. In addition, they can also play other online matches. Meanwhile, Polygon says that though the game does not include a women's ultimate team or career mode, but EA has not discounted changes in future versions.
In fact, inclusion of the women's team is a major modification to the "FIFA" video game franchise. Nevertheless, the 12 women's teams featured in the video game franchise still insipid compared to the 35 men's leagues as well as 47 international teams in "FIFA 2015." In addition, notwithstanding the game being a simulation, players can only play the women's teams only against other women's teams in "FIFA 2016."
While this is something first for any "FIFA" video game franchise, it is by no change the first time that women are being featured in a soccer video game. Earlier, Silicon Dreams Studios had released a game titled "Mia Hamm Soccer 64" for the Nintendo 64 and "UEFA Dream Soccer" for the Sega Dreamcast, both of which featured women players. However, Guardian says that both these earlier games received poor reviews.
EA Sports has announced that "FIFA 2016" will officially go on sale from September 22 for the PC, Microsoft Xbox One, Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
