Fans of 'The Walking Dead' have been wondering since the start of the horror drama series how the zombie apocalypse series actually started. On that note, they will be happy to know that all this will be revealed this summer.

E! News reports that the first teaser trailer for the spin off series titled 'Fear the Walking Dead' made its first appearance during the Season 5 finale of the hit AMC show.

In a promo for the 'Fear the Walking Dead,' a radio jockey is heard saying, "Morning, Los Angeles -- hope you got your flu shot." The promo goes on to state, "Reports in five states that a strange virus is going around -- so if you're not feeling well, go home, take care of yourself."

All this hints that the end result is the zombie apocalypse.

The 15-second promo video of 'Fear the Walking Dead' confirms two main plot details - the location is Los Angeles, and the opening timeline is the start of 'The Walking Dead's' critical outbreak.

While the spin-off series is set in the location same as 'The Walking Dead,' the plot will focus on four new main characters. According to Rolling Stone, these character asre Sean Cabrera (Cliff Curtis), a divorced teacher; Nancy Tomkins (Kim Dickens), a guidance counselor; as well as her two children, Ashley (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and drug-addicted Nick (Frank Dillane).

As of now, AMC has ordered a second season, which will premiere in 2016. The first season will have a total of six episodes.

A statement issued by executive producer Robert Kirkman reads, "We feel empowered by this two-season commitment, a serious show of faith from our network partner AMC." The statement adds, "I personally take it as a sign that they believe, like we do, that we've accomplished our goal of developing something original that can pay tribute to the original show and expand the world I created while at the same time having something new to say with this story. I'm very grateful that we now have the opportunity to tell this amazing story and show the fans that we really haven't scratched the surface yet when it comes to 'The Walking Dead.'"

Meanwhile, Rolling Stone reports that filming for 'Fear the Walking Dead' commenced earlier this year and concluded on Feb. 6. 'Fear The Walking Dead' will premiere this summer.
