'Fear The Walking Dead' News: Showrunner Confirms New Series will Shed Light on Mysteries of Original Show
The spin-off show to the wildly popular 'Walking Dead' series is fast approaching, and while slight details have been shared about what is to come, there is still one big question that remains on every fans' mind.
How exactly will the events in 'Fear the Walking Dead' link back and explain the gaps in the original show? Or will it at all?
Thanks to EWÂ reaching out to showrunner Robert Kirkman, we now can confirm that while the spin-off show won't be imperative to understand what's happening in 'Walking Dead,' it will however shed some light on what we haven't been told yet.
"Everything that happens in Fear The Walking Dead is in the same universe as The Walking Dead," says Kirkman. "So any rule that we find out and anything they see in the early days is definitely something that was happening in the past of the other show. These two shows are very intertwined in the same world, even if their characters aren't necessarily going to interact because of geographical distances. So yeah, anything that you learn from Fear the Walking Dead will apply to the mythology of The Walking Dead and vice versa. So you are going to get to see that the characters learn that they're all infected in a much different way. But all the rules do apply and are the same. That will be some of the fun if you're watching both shows."
'Fear the Walking Dead' will largely be focused on the events that took place while protagonist Rick Grimes was in a coma. The outbreak has just only started and while the characters in the original are now very used to it, the characters on the spin-off will just becoming acclimated to it in "a much different way."
'Fear the Walking Dead' arrives to AMC in August.
