'Fear The Walking Dead' News: AMC Releases Cast Portraits Ahead of Show Premiere [VIDEO]
Even as a few weeks remain before the August premiere of 'Fear The Walking Dead,' a companion series of zombie drama 'The Walking Dead,' AMC has released several character portraits with a view to generate excitement among the fans about the upcoming show.
According to a report in IB Times, the newly released images, which were posted on AMC's 'Fear the Walking Dead' official page, are reveal little about the zombies but focus heavily on new characters Madison (Kim Dickens), Travis (Cliff Curtis), Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), Nick (Frank Dillane), Liza (Elizabeth Rodriguez), Daniel (Ruben Blades), Ofelia (Mercedes Mason), Griselda (Patricia Reyes Spindola) and Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie).
As reported earlier, fans of the show will see the new group of survivors joining the same apocalypse as Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) as well as the remaining cast of 'The Walking Dead.' Nevertheless; the two zombie shows exist in somewhat different timelines. While 'Fear The Walking Dead' tells about the onset of the zombie apocalypse, majority of of the events in 'The Walking Dead' occur in Georgia and the adjoining areas. On the other hand, 'Fear The Walking Dead' is set across the country in Los Angeles.
The official synopsis of 'Fear The Walking Dead,' which premieres on Aug. 23, reads, "A highly dysfunctional blended family is forced together when they realize a reported virus is actually the onset of the live apocalypse."
Meanwhile, the series creator Robert Kirkman said that 'Fear The Walking Dead' will focus on single parents Madison and Travis, who work at the same school and have started a relationship together that combines their extremely turbulent home lives just as the world begins to meet its end. Though both Alicia and Nick are being raised by Madison, their lives are very different. Elsewhere, Travis is desperately trying to raise his son, Chris, following a chaotic divorce from his mother, Liza.
In the new promotional pictures, the characters are seen looking off camera at whatever threat is impending when the series opens. However, this is not the first glimpse of the characters in action, as the show already released the first full-length trailer of the upcoming series at the recently concluded San Diego 2015 Comic-Con. The trailer showed society beginning to crumble under the weight of the strange zombie outbreak.
