'Fast and Furious 8' Cast Rumors: Eva Mendes, Helen Mirren, and Lucas Black to Return in Next Installment?

Even as 'Furious 7' continues to pull crowds into the theaters, turning out to be top grosser at the box office, fans are talking about the next installment, 'Fast and Furious 8.'

While no official announcement has been made in this regard yet, Christian Today reports that with the latest installment of the 'Fast and Furious' series is already breaking the $500 million mark at the box office, it is very natural to expect another installment of the movie, which could be somewhat tweaked. According to rumors, the character of Monique Fuentes (portrayed by Eva Mendes) may be included in the future installment.

It is worth mentioning here that Mendes featured in '2 Fast 2 Furious' and played the role of a U.S. Customs Agent. She was the love interest of the deceased Paul Walker. Latest rumors suggest that Universal Pictures is likely to include Mendes for the next installment of 'Fast and Furious,' which is likely to be set in New York City.

In addition, there are rumors that the studio may include another character - that of Helen Mirren, who has already announced she would be happy to be part of the movie. While many are of the view that Mirren's wish may be fulfilled soon, it remains to be seen the producers would fit her in.

As Walker is already out, it appears that the producers are considering the characters from the previous Fast and Furious to reprise. While Mendes is one of them, it would be interesting to see which other actor would be picked to fill in the void left by Walker who died in a terrible car crash in 2013.

While there is no official report regarding who would take Walker's place, Lucas Black, who played Sean Boswell in 'The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift' is one character that comes to the fans' mind. It would appear that Black would be a valid choice bearing in mind he has ties with Han as well as Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel).

Apart from the usual team, it is reported that Kurt Russel may be returning for the eighth installment. In fact, Vin Diesel himself revealed this saying that Russell's character was really intended to appear in the Fast and Furious 8.

Considering that Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson's contract with Universal Pictures is on a per film basis, his return seems to be uncertain. Therefore, Johnson may opt or may not opt to return, but with the producers reportedly moving away from his character, it is unlikely that the Rock will be back for 'Fast and Furious 8.'
