'Fast and Furious 7' Cast Update: Cody Walker, Brother of Paul, To Have Recurring Role
Cody Walker, brother of the late film star Paul Walker, may appear in future roles for the Fast and Furious franchise after initially stepping in to finish his brother's remaining scenes in the seventh installment.
25-year-old Cody, agreed to shoot some crucial scenes for the movie as a tribute to his late brother, also aiding in the matter is the fact that he resembles his late brother Paul. According to a production source, the younger Walker will be given a role in future Fast and Furious movies, MailOnline reported.
"Paul's character Brian O'Conner will be seen retiring, while his younger brother will join the crew," the production source told MailOnline. "Of course, Cody isn't a replacement for Paul in any way, but the producers were really grateful that he stepped in to help them finish this last film and Cody so likeable and charming."
"It would be a tribute to Paul that Cody carries on the Walker name in The Fast and The Furious movies," the source added.
Last May, Cody was seen in Malibu near Los Angeles, California, which appeared to be used as a movie shoot. Cody was seen with Jordana Brewster, who plays Paul's wife in the franchise, the two shared a tender embrace. After a while, they were joined by a young boy who happens to play the screen couples' son.
There was speculation that the scene being filmed appeared to be a happy ending for Paul's character.
Cody broke his silence for the first time and talked about his relationship with Paul.
"It still doesn't feel the real because sometimes, working in this industry, making films, he'd [Paul] be away from his family three, four, six months at a time," Cody said.
When Paul is away shooting films, Cody said that his only interaction with his older brother is via phone calls. For him, being part of The Fast and The Furious shoot seems surreal and disclosed that not having his brother around will take him a few more years before it sticks.
"Anyone that ever met Paul, he'd never met a stranger in his life," said Cody with tears in his eyes. "If you didn't recognize him out in public, he'd never mention it. He was so low key, just lived a modest life."
When Paul died in a car accident in November of last year, the film production was in dire straits. The filming was still on-going at the time of his death.
Production scoured for replacements starting with Paul's siblings, Cody and Caleb Walker (36), who were immediately set to to stand in for Paul. Additional Paul look-alikes were also brought it to stand as body doubles.
It was reported that casting body doubles and generating the CGI-related work cost the franchise around US $50 million.
The movie was originally slated to be released this summer, but was pushed backed to April 10, 2015.
