'Fashion Police' New Host News: E! Network Struggles with Replacing Late Joan Rivers
Since the death of Joan Rivers, the "Fashion Police" host, E! has been struggling to keep up with the ratings. The show has recently lost many because of its new hosts. In a statement released on Tuesday, March 17, the entertainment network announced that the show would be on a hiatus until September.
So far, three hosts have decided to call it quits on the "Fashion Police." Kelly Osbourne left after co-host Giuliana Rancic criticized African American Disney Channel star Zendaya Coleman about her dreadlocks. Rancic said that the Zendaya's hair probably smelled liked marijuana and fellow hosts were shocked at her comment.
The young star went public and announced that Rancic's comment was racist, biased and uncalled for. Rancic later apologized, saying that when she returns to the show, she will not play upon stereotypes. However her apology it wasn't enough for Osbourne, who left later in February.
Comedian Kathy Griffin, who had only critiqued on the show for seven episodes, was supposed to replace Rivers. On March 12, Griffin announced her removal on the show. During her brief time there, her approach to the criticism felt very dry and forceful. In an interview on "The View," Griffin said she felt forced to, "comment about pictures of beautiful women in perfect dresses and say kind of bad things."
Those who will return to the show are Rancic along with Brad Goreski and Executive Producer Melissa Rivers. In the statement it said, "We look forward to taking this opportunity to refresh the show before the next awards season."
"Fashion Police" is a show where a group of people would basically discuss what the latest stars were wearing, most of the comments were negative and stir up gossip.
