'Fantastic Four' News: Josh Trank Blames Studio For Failed Reboot
The verdict has been released for the very mystified 'Fantastic Four' reboot, and it has been confirmed that director Josh Trank wants no parts of it.
Trank took to Twitter early on Friday to distance himself from the superhero film, stating that his vision for the film would have done much better with the public.
"A year ago I had a fantastic version of this. And it would've received great reviews. You'll probably never see it. That's the reality, though."
Despite the director later deleting this tweet, there's no doubt that it will inevitably get him in a lot of trouble with the studio.
It was rumored that Trank had a lot of disputes with Fox regarding his take on the film, which was also rumored to result in them taking a bunch of reshoots for the movie. He recently went to negate these claims, insinuating that things were going smoothly.
"None of those facts were true - and any of the facts that were true were spun in such a maliciously wrong way," Trank said in a June interview with The Los Angeles Times. "If you ask anybody by name who I've worked with, from Simon to [producer] Hutch [Parker] or my crew or anybody else, they'd be like, 'We've been working really hard on this movie and we've had an excellent time working together,'" he said. "It's been a challenging movie - for all of the right reasons."
The dispute was also reportedly not what led in his falling out with LucasFilm for the 'Star Wars' standalone film.
"I want to do something original after this because I've been living under public scrutiny, as you've seen, for the last four years of my life," Trank also told the Los Angeles Times. "And it's not healthy for me right now in my life. I want to do something that's below the radar."
There are a couple things that are certain about the whole situation. The public may never know what truly happened between Trank and Fox, and they will also never get to see the directors "fantastic version" for the film.
