'Fantastic Four' News: Actor Toby Kebbell Talks Doctor Doom Character

Josh Trank's reboot of the 'Fantastic Four' hasn't been getting very good response ever since the trailer released for it.

Fans of the classic property were dissatisfied about how far the director took it from the original canon, and then there are some that just aren't convinced that this movie will turn out any good judging from the studio's previous failed attempts.

One of the biggest criticisms for the movie regarded the coveted Doctor Doom character. The actor that is set to portray him, Toby Kebbell, previously stated that the character would be reimagined as an anti-social hacker that goes by the name of Doom on blog sites.

He has since retracted this statement, and gave fans a new description of his character in an interview with SuperHeroHype. He states:

"Yeah, he's still from the same place, his mother is still a gypsy and done her deals, his father still perished from exposure looking after me. He's angry. He's an angry dude. But now he's in Baxter. He's bright and he's trying to make people proud. He found a new father in Dr. Storm, the father of Johnny and adoptive father of Sue.

"I kind of get adopted as well, in a fantastic performance by Reg E. Cathey. And that's Doom as we see him. He's a computer technician, a computer scientist. There were rumors he was a hacker or something, but no. Victor Von Doom is who we hope he will be."

It's speculated that the studio decided to change some of the aspects of the character once the fans responded negatively.

'Fantastic Four' plans to premiere in theaters on August 7.
