'Fantastic Four' Movie News, Rumors: Upcoming Reboot Film Will Flop at Box Office?
Recent news from 20th Century Fox suggests that the upcoming "Fantastic Four" reboot movie may not live up to fans' expectations.
People from within the studio have been quoted comparing the film to a "Chronicle 2," a sequel to a movie where a group of teenagers developed psychic powers.
"One well-connected senior executive described it to me as 'a mess'. And multiple sources are telling me about major disquiet at Fox regarding the state of the movie," writes Bleeding Cool.
It has been reported that the studio has ordered reshoots from the dissatisfaction with what Director Josh Trank has produced. Millions of dollars are being freed up for set rebuilds in Louisiana.
Whatever FOX ends up producing, fans can rest assure it won't be a real comic book adaptation. The director has already stated about how he wanted to go in another direction with the film.
"The actor playing the Fantastic Four's villain, Doctor Doom, said that his character would be a 'very anti-social programmer' in the film, a pretty solid departure from anything that's appeared in previous films or on the comic book page. Another report said that director Josh Trank would be trying to realize the Fantastic Four in 'a different way' without a 'kitschy, overly comic-book world'," writes Inquisitr.
Along with the studio's take on the film, we also have Director Matthew Vaughn's opinion from an interview he did with Flickering Myth.
"I've seen the movie, it's good. I thought Chronicle was a fantastic movie and [Josh] Trank has gone off and done his version of Fantastic Four. If you like Chronicle, then you'll like this. We're all backing Josh Trank's vision. And hopefully the world will like Josh Trank's vision."
