Fall Top TV Series News: Twitter Users Shares Fall's Most-Tweeted About Shows

The fall season is nearly here and TV junkies are all on the edges of their seats to get back into their favorite shows ... and let's just see what's in store for them with the new shows debuting this season.

Social media users were all over Twitter with anticipations, rumors and opinions, and Twitter compiled and analyzed these posts to tell us what about fall 2015 TV was being talked about.

The trendsetting social media site assigned all shows into two categories - new and returning.

Grey's Anatomy led the pack as most tweeted-about show in the 'returning' category while American Horror Story: Hotel was the most discussed 'new' show.

The long-running Grey's Anatomy, created and produced by Shonda Rhimes, garnered over 2.2 million tweets which catapulted it to the top of the 'returning' chart, a huge jump from last year's 6th place.

The reason for this large leap, according to Entertainment Weekly, was because Patrick Dempsey, a multitude of fans' McDreamy, left the show at the end of last season.

The CW's Supernatural was runner-up for most-tweeted about returning show with 2 million tweets. Coming in third place was AMC's The Walking Dead, which gained 1.9 million tweets and dropped from last year's first place.

The Vampire Diaries and Once Upon A Time took fourth and fifth places in the returning shows category with 1.6 million tweets and 1.1 million tweets respectively.

While new shows only took up 10% of all the shows ranked, they still managed to get tongues wagging and the most-tweeted about new show was Ryan Murphy's next installment of American Horror Story featuring Lady Gaga. The camp horror series garnered 1.1 million tweets.

The second most tweeted about new show spot was taken by Stephen Colbert's new Late Show with more than 314,000 tweets.

Third place also went to Ryan Murphy for his Scream Queens which was tweeted about more than 247,000 times. Fourth place was taken by Heroes Reborn and fifth went to Supergirl.

A Twitter infographic revealed that the show that grew the most in tweets since its debut was The Flash.

Runners-up in this section were Jane the Virginand How to Get Away with Murder. Tweets for this year's fall season totaled at around 21 million, up 34% from last year.
