'Fable Legends' Cancelled: Game's Beta Open Until April 13, Available On Windows 10, Xbox One
In line with Microsoft's cancellation of its action role-playing video game "Fable Legends," the game's beta is said to remain open until April this year.
"Fable Legends," which is Lionhead Studios' previously cancelled free to play cooperative playing game is set to stay online until Apr. 13, according to IGN. As per the publication, players who have access to the closed beta will be able to continue playing the game until the aforementioned date. Moreover, the game will not add new players for the time being.
On Mar. 7, Microsoft Studios Europe General Manager Hanno Lenke announced the company's plan to halt the development of "Fable Legends." In a statement in the official Xbox website, Lenke said that after much consideration, they had opted to cease development on "Fable Legends," and were in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the United Kingdom.
Lenke also mentioned that they would close Press Play Studios in Denmark and sunset development on "Project Knoxville," adding that these had been tough choices that they had not made lightly.
"Fable Legends" is based on four Heroes and a Villain and players may assume each role either via online multiplayer or by an AI. Both approaches provide similar gaming experience to players, including the utilization of AI heroes as allies or foes. The gameplay aims the Hero characters to unite in order to take down the Villain, who opposes them with his own army of creatures.
The game is supposed to be the "next adventure" in the genre-defining "Fable" series, as per the game's official website. The game can be played for free on Windows 10 and Xbox One with Xbox Live Gold.
