FA Cup 2015 Latest News: Manchester United Ease Past Yeovil 2-0
During the third round of the FA Cup between Yeovil Town and Manchester United, ManU managed to edge out its opponent, winning by a score of 2-0 in the game held at Huish Park on Monday.
Manchester nabbed the win thanks to the goals made by central midfielder Ander Herrera and substitute player Angel Di Maria.
Manchester started the game off with the enthusiastic support of the fans and a strong side, thanks to players Radamel "El Tigre" Falcao, Wayne Rooney, and young striker James Wilson. However, they were unable to break Yeovil's side at first, and as the first half of the game carried on, it initially seemed like Yeovil was pulling through with its long-ball game.
At the start of the game, Yeovil reportedly seemed more satisfied with their performance compared to Manchester. ManU manager Louis van Gaal even explained later on that at the time he was worried about the team's fate in the game.
However, the Red Devils triumphed in the end. They had to wait a long while before they were able to make their first goal, but when they did, it was all thanks to Herrera when he scored a goal at the 64th minute.
Herrera managed to score with a first-time shot that flew to the top corner, leaving goalkeeper Jed Steer unable to block the shot. He might not have made the goal at all however, had Yeovil striker Kieffer Moore not mess up his shot, something the player was criticized for.
While Yeovil tried to pick up the slack after losing a goal, Di Maria managed to score minutes later after following through with a pass from Rooney. Moore was once again set up for a goal at the 73rd minute, as his shot was deflected wide, losing another chance and giving Manchester the win.
Van Gaal had nothing but good things to say about their opponents after the game, according to Henry Winter of the Daily Telegraph.
"When you see the performance of Yeovil Town it was fantastic," the manager reportedly tweeted. He also added that he was looking forward to more good things in the FA Cup especially as Manchester had not won the cup in 11 years.
