'Evolve' Xbox One Open Beta Release Date: Early Access Starting January 15, Smaller Tests for PS4 & PC

In an announcement from 2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios, the upcoming Xbox One, PS4, and PC game- 'Evolve' will be entering an open beta testing phase next month. Xbox One gamers will be able to play the 4-vs-1 monster-hunting game starting January 15.

On that note, PS4 and PC players will also be getting some sort of early access to the game, but only Xbox One is getting the open beta.

'Evolve' will be available for Xbox One gamers from January 15 to January 19. Gamers will be able to play the game's "Hunt" mode, and go ahead and unlock some of the various Monsters and Hunters in the game.

Additionally, players who do end up unlocking some of the game's creatures and characters will be able to retain them when the game actually launches. As it stands 'Evolve' is slated for release on February 10, 2015.

Moving along, Xbox One open beta testers will be getting a new mode to play two days before the early access ends. Gamers will be able to play "Evacuation" mode on January 17.

In regards to PS4 gamers, Turtle Rock is inviting some of them to play 'Evolve' in January as well. Gamers who were invited to October's Big Alpha, will be given access to a "smaller closed technical test" for 'Evolve' starting on January 17.

Last but not least, PC players will be able to play 'Evolve' on January 16 if they were invited to Big Alpha. Also, gamers who have 'Left 4 Dead' or 'BioShock Infinite' in their Steam libraries are also being given access to the test period.

It's important to mention that the testing on PS4 and PC will not carry over into the retail release of the game. This means that anything unlocked on the platforms during the test will have to be unlocked again in the full version come February.

On a side note, GameSpot mentioned how the game was originally scheduled to be released in 2014, they wrote in an article, "The game was originally expected to launch in fall 2014, but was delayed to 2015 in August so that Turtle Rock could 'fully realize their creative vision'."
