‘Evil Dead’ TV Series Spoilers: Bruce Campbell Talks Plot Details, & AMC's 'Walking Dead'- Release Date
Fans of the classic 'Evil Dead' film will be excited to learn that a TV adaptation is in the works and will star Bruce Campbell. Additionally, the lead role came forward and provided some spoilers in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.
EW also went ahead and provided some information on the storyline, their post reads, "The set-up: Ash is living in a trailer park and working his latest thankless big-box store job when a return of the Deadites prompts him to take a road trip with two young co-workers (and, of course, his trusty boomstick)."
First and foremost, the new and upcoming series is officially titled 'Ash vs. Evil Dead', and will premiere on Staz Network sometime next year in 2015.
Stepping into the interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bruce Campbell went ahead and mentioned why the next version of 'Evil Dead' comes in the form of a TV series and not a film sequel.
He said to EW, "We realized if we made another movie, frankly, it would probably be too expensive. But in the format of a TV show, we could give people exactly what they wanted and expand the character and the story even more."
After that, the star actor was asked if the AMC zombie drama 'The Walking Dead' provides any contribution or hype towards his new series, 'Ash vs. Evil Dead'.
On that note, he said "Well, 'The Walking Dead' has been instrumental in the continual popularization of the horror genre. Horror used to be a much smaller aspect of all the different genres available."
Beyond that, Entertainment Weekly went forward with the interview in a way that many fans of the original 'Evil Dead' movies will appreciate. The interviewer asked how has the main character (Ash) evolved, and how he will appear in the upcoming Starz series.
Apparently, Ash has been changing in each installment to the franchise, and this time around he'll be as arrogant and as sour as ever.
Campbell said "He continues being a trash-talking know-it-all who doesn't really know anything. He's the ultimate anti-hero. He's a guy with no appreciable skills. He's not a former Navy SEAL, he's not a former CIA or FBI. He's no special anything. He's just a guy from S-Mart, you know?"
Unfortunately, there's no official release date for the new series, but as it stands, 'Ash vs. Evil Dead'' is looking at a late 2015 debut.
