'Evil Dead' Release Date, New TV Series News: 'Ash vs Evil Dead' on Starz in 2015, Series to Feature Bruce Campbell

Here's some good news for horror movie fans, Starz has just announced that they plan to bring 'The Evil Dead', the classic horror film franchise, to television. The new show titled 'Ash vs Evil Dead' will feature Bruce Campbell's iconic character, Ash Williams, and will be comprised of 10 episodes which are set to air next year.

Announcing its latest plans, Starz recently said, "When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons - personal and literal," adding, "Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its 'Evil' grip."

Sam Raimi, who directed the original film that released in 1981, will be writing as well as directing the premiere episode of the series. Along with Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell, Raimi will be the executive produces of the series. A press release issued by Raimi said that he is excited over the TV adaptation of his well-known horror movie franchise.

The other episodes of the series, expected to premiere in 2015, will be written together by Raimi and Tom Spezialy.

"Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash's lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his 'boomstick,' Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there's a truckload of it," the Raimi said.

In fact, Campbell is also thrilled to get an opportunity to reprise his role as Ash. He has promised fans that he will be offering plenty of action-packed but hilarious antics, which made his role so popular.

For the uninitiated, 'The Evil Dead' franchise started with the first film in released 1981. This movie was followed by 'Evil Dead II' in 1987, while the third installment titled 'Army of Darkness' was released in 1992. The most recent film of the series titled 'Evil Dead' hit the theaters in 2013.
