Eva Mendes News: 'Hitch' Actress Discusses Pressure on New Mothers and Her Choice of Name

Eva Mendes has always been her own woman, and the actress says she won't let Hollywood's standards dictate how she should approach motherhood.

On Wednesday's The Wendy Williams Show, the fashion entrepreneur shared about being a mom, the name she chose for her daughter and the pressure Hollywood places on mothers to "bounce back" after having a child.

"I feel like we can be really hard on each other," Mendes, 44, confided upon being asked about losing weight gained during pregnancy. "That whole term 'bounce back' after pregnancy... I don't like that terminology."

Mendes goes on to say: "Look, if you go into the bikini two weeks after, good for you, but that wasn't me. I just feel like we as women need to support each other more."

Mendes credited her big "crazy" Cuban family for their support and help after bringing Esmerelda Amanda into her and husband Ryan Gosling's (34) life. She shares that she's "never appreciated [her] family so much."

Mendes confided that her and her husband's families are so helpful that she didn't even need to hire a nanny.

While quick to assure that she isn't "anti-nanny", she said that she didn't end up needing one.

"It's like a takeover. The Cubans come over and it's like, 'The Cubans are coming!' It's amazing because they take the baby, they start cooking food, the dishes are done, it's a beautiful takeover."

Mendes, best known for her role in 2 Fast, 2 Furious, says she also has her family to thank in part for her daughter's name.

"We love Hunchback of Notre Dame, we loved the name, the cartoon and the novel," Mendes shares.

"It's actually a very popular Latin name so it's easy for my father, and certain family members that still don't speak English, to pronounce. That was a good selling point."
