'Enchanted 2' Movie News: Time Jump Going To Happen As New Director Comes On Board
The "Enchanted 2," which has a working title of "Disenchanted," is rolling right along as producers have found a new director to helm the sequel to the 2007 Disney film.
The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Adam Shankman has been tapped to direct the movie which will reportedly start filming next summer. He is replacing Kevin Lima who helmed the original film. Shankman certainly has some experience directing a musical after leading "Hairspray" and also worked on "Rock of Ages."
According to the report, the "Enchanted 2" has been in the pipeline for six years now, and has undergone a musical chair of directors and writers.
The synopsis for the first film read:
"Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) lives in the blissful cartoon world of Andalasia, where magical beings frolic freely and musical interludes punctuate every interaction. Though Princess Giselle is currently engaged to be married to the handsome Prince Edward (James Marsden), her fate takes a turn for the worse when the villainous Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) banishes her to the unforgiving metropolis of New York City."
The original film had a budget of $85 million but grossed $340,487,652 worldwide, said Box-Office Mojo. So there's no doubt that "Enchanted 2" is happening based on the success of the first movie alone.
The UK's Metro said that "Enchanted 2" will be set 10 years from the first movie. Giselle (Amy Adams) will now seriously doubt whether or not the phrase "happily ever after" is even true. However, it's not clear if Patrick Dempsey will return as her love interest.
