In his quest to take down Lucious, Tariq will put the pressure on Cookie in the upcoming season of "Empire."

Tariq is the half-brother of Lucious who was introduced in the series as a dangerous FBI agent. Next season, he will return to continue his probe on the Lyon patriarch's shady business.

The promo video released for season 3 shows Tariq forcing Cookie to reveal what she knows about the matter before he goes after her and her sons. However, it looks like she will not let Tariq bully her, as she even invites Tariq to come over for a family dinner. During the gathering, she tells everyone how important family is and how members should not fight with each other.

In May, "Empire" executive producer Ilene Chaiken revealed in his interview with Deadline that Tariq would be an enemy in season 3. In the new season, his only goal is to put Lucious behind bars. Chaiken also revealed that the FBI agent would have some personal grudges to settle with his half-brother.

The executive producer further revealed that aside from Tariq, Shyne Johnson is the other big enemy that Lucious would find hard to brush off next season. The music mogul will be in a very critical position that a single wrong stop could cause his downfall.

"Shyne is going to be a big character in our third season, as is Lucious' half-brother Tariq who happens to be a fed with a very, very personal agenda to finally be the one to make this case against Lucious Lyon and Empire," said Chaiken.

"Empire" season 3 premieres on September 21, 9:00 P.M. on Fox.
