Lucious will try to patch things up with Cookie in the upcoming season of "Empire."

The previous installment left viewers in shock when Lucious decided to get hitched with Anika on the day of his son's wedding. While the ceremony was actually organized for Hakeem, Lucious took his chance to trick his ex-fiancee and marry her so he could prevent her from testifying against him. Lucious knew pretty well that if Anika would become his wife, then all of her charges against him would not matter in court anymore. It was a crucial moment for the head of the Lyon family, but he was wise enough to have successfully pulled his plan off.

However, the catch is that Anika was pregnant with Hakeem's child, and Lucious was already getting romantically involved with Cookie at the time he married Anika. But while Cookie was both shocked and hurt with Lucious' decision, she managed to remain strong.

According to executive producer Sanaa Hamri, Lucious will find it hard to make amends with Cookie in the upcoming season, especially since the love of his life has already settled on moving on and walking away. Cookie abhors Anika, but she does not have any choice but to honor their marriage.

Hamri also revealed that the Lyons family will have to deal with more troubles in season 3.

"The first half of the second season was setting a lot of plotlines, infrastructure. It's a lot of information to get through to reap the benefits of the second half of the season. The family, as they get closer, it gets more dangerous as we get into season three. We're going to see what happened with what's dangling, with every skeleton falling out of every closet, and what they do with that information," said Hamri.
