Cookie Lyon may finally execute her revenge in "Empire" season 3.

In the previous season, Cookie was betrayed by Lucious, who chose to marry Anika. Because of his decision, any possible reconciliation between the couple has already been severed. In the upcoming season, fans predict that the matriarch will learn to stand her ground and fight for her family and the company that they established, by hook or by crook.

According to "Empire" executive producer Ilene Chaiken, Lucious still loves Cookie but will not have the guts to tell it to her. Despite the shocking wedding between Lucious and Anika that took place in the previous season, Lucious will always have a special connection with his ex-wife Cookie.

"They love one another, the path was clear, and all of a sudden, yet another thing from Lucious' past and the mistakes he made got in the way. And I'm with Cookie on this one: This is it. She's done. She's finished being hurt by Lucious," said Chaiken during her interview with TV Line.

Aside from the Cookie-Lucious-Anika storyline, interesting new storylines are also expected next season from the newcomers, including singer Sierra McClain as Nessa, and hip-hop legend Biz Markle. French Montana, Birdman, Xzibit, Taye Diggs and Kid Cudi are also set to make appearances.

In other news, Howard's role is in jeopardy due to a lawsuit filed by his former talent management, Authentic Talent and Literary Management. The actor and his agency have yet to comment on the issue.

"Empire" season 3 premieres on September 21, 9:00 P.M. on FOX.
