The third episode of "Empire" season 3 offers a first look at Mariah Carey as part of the series. It will also see Andre trapped in a huge mess.

Titled "What Remains is Bestial," the upcoming episode will feature Mariah Carey as Kitty, a mega-superstar in the industry. Based on the official synopsis for the episode, Cookie will approach Kitty for a favor and will ask her to collaborate with Jamal so she can help him deal with his inability to perform.

Meanwhile, Cookie and Lucious will continue to disagree over various issues. At the same time, things will heat up between Angelo Dubois and Cookie. The new episode will also focus on Andre, who fill find himself in deep trouble after his plan was thwarted in the previous episode. Elsewhere, Hakeem and Gram will do everything in their capacity to catch the attention of Tiana.

Episode 2 followed Lucious Lyon as he tried to make things right. It can be recalled that in the season premiere, Cookie made it clear to him that she was done with Lucious because he had chosen to marry Anika. However, Lucious only married Anika so she would not have to testify against him.

In other news, "Empire" showrunner Ilene Chaiken spoke about Carey's role in season 3 in her interview with Deadline.

"We look at it in terms of, if we had written that character and she had three episodes, it wouldn't have been Mariah unless Mariah could give us those three episodes," she said.

"As it happened, this was a one-episode story and a character who may come back in the second half of the season for another episode. But simply, we were looking for a musical star to play that role, and were lucky to get Mariah to play it," she added.
