'Empire' Season 3 News: Fox Series Kicks Off Filming In July; Xzibit To Reprises Role?

Aside from talks that Xzibit gets a regular role, it is revealed that "Empire" season 3 is set to commence its filming next month.

"Empire" season 3 is set to start filming in Chicago in the middle of July, Chicago Tribune has learned. As per the publication, preparation for the upcoming production is set to take place on the West Side of the Cinespace Chicago Film Studios. Additional filming locations for the upcoming show are yet to be revealed.

It is further revealed that "Empire" season 3 is set to see "Iron Man" star Terrence Howard and "Person of Interest" actress Taraji P. Henson. The New York-set series also stars "Empire" star Alicia Keys, "The View" actress Rosie O'Donnell, "A Very Murray Christmas" actor Chris Rock, and "Furious 7" star Ludacris.

The production for "Empire" season 3 is at par with the filming schedule for the show's second season in June 2015 in the same location. Filming for "Empire" season 2 concluded in March and the series aired on May 18.

In other news, Xzibit has got a regular spot in "Empire" season 3. On June 19, the artist took to Instagram a photo of him. In caption, he wrote that he was very happy to announce that he would be a series regular on the forthcoming third season of "Empire." He added that he was thankful for the opportunity and excited to bring the show with the rest of the stellar cast.

Xzibit is set to reprise his character named Shyne, Lucious Lyon's rival. Shyne made his debut in the final episode of "Empire" season 2.

"Empire" season 3 is set to air on Sept. 21.
