With the nearing finale of "Empire" season 2, it is revealed that Hakeem and Jamal are set to face another challenge in episode 17.

"Empire" season 2 episode 17 is entitled "Rise By Sin." According to Spoilers Guide, Hakeem is set to be pressured and problematic, as he does not know how he is going to find a spot for his fiance Laura in his family and his job. Thus, more arcs on the dynamics between the couple are yet to be revealed.

Speaking about Jamal, he is set to learn from Cookie the truth with regard to what happened to Freda's father. As per the publication, this will lead him to warn Freda about his family's covert plan. In addition, Jamal, who is frustrated with the family, is set to make a sacrifice for Lucious, and it is going to be difficult to return to its previous state.

The thickness between blood and water is set to be the theme of "Empire" season 2 episode 18, the season finale. Entitled "Past Is Prologue," the episode is set to see Jamal refuse to create music until he no longer sees brawl and violence within the family. Also, the episode reveals that Cookie will set a meeting at Laura and Hakeem's wedding, along with different people from her and Lucious' past, as per Spoilers Guide.

Meanwhile, fans previously saw the return of a ghost from the past in "Empire" season 2 episode 16, which is entitled "The Lyon Who Cried Wolf." According to Spoilers Guide, a wrench was thrown into Lucious' deep personal music video about his mother while Andre learned a dark secret. Also, Hakeem and Jamal were seen compromised following the secret affairs that they pursued.
