While the episode prior to the spring opener was filled with so much drama, the 11^th episode of "Empire" Season 2 comes back with just as much.

Episode 11, titled "Death Will Have His Day," follows the members of the Lyon family as they make a fuss of the removal of Lucious as chairman and CEO of Empire Entertainment. It can be remembered that in episode 10, venture capitalist Mimi Whiteman succeeded in coaxing the Empire Entertainment board of trustees to expel Lucious so he could supersede.

In the spring premiere, we learn that Mimi is already the CEO of Empire, with his wife Camilla as his deputy. Camilla then signs up Lucious' son and her ex-boyfriend Hakeem to take charge of Empire, pitting him against his own father. Now that Hakeem is torn between his affection for Camilla and Lucious, tension in the spring premiere is way up there.

Meanwhile, episode 11 also sees the reconnection of Lucious and Cookie as they work together in reclaiming their own company. Despite Jamal's cautioning, it seems that there is no stopping Cookie from wanting to get back together with Lucious.

The spring premiere also addresses the fate of Rhonda and her unborn child. Episode 10 saw the accident that she got into, wherein she was pushed from a staircase in her home. Apparently, her appearance in episode 11 suggests that she endures the fall. However, the promotional video of the series showing her sobbing in front of an empty crib may indicate that her baby was not able to make it.
