'Empire' Season 1 Spoilers: Relationship Between Jamal and Michael Worsens
Fox's hit series Empire showcased a shocking turn of events on last week's episode. In a preview for tonight's episode, things are taking a turn for the worse for Jamal, played by Jussie Smollett, and Michael, played by Rafael de La Fuente.
In last week's episode, Jamal found out he had a daughter named Olivia, who is played by Raven Symone. This added strain on top of Jamal diving deeper in his music career worried Michael to a point where he thought the relationship would end. Michael took his worries to Cookie, played by Taraji P. Henson, who told Michael, "Fame changes people. He's going to have less and less time for you."
In the preview trailer released by E!, Michael is seen packing boxes into a van. Jamal sees this and runs to Michael asking what is going on.
"You couldn't even tell it to my face, I had to hear it on the radio, " said Michael, "Nobody special?"
"I said 'no special girl,'" Jamal said.
Michael then pointed out to Jamal that he does have a special girl, his daughter. Jamal is apparently still in denial of having a daughter saying that he only slept with a woman once. Michael, who didn't know about this until Jamal told him about having a daughter replied, "One time is all it takes."
"You don't love me," Michael tells him. "I love you, and you're in love with your music." With that, Michael drives off in the van, leaving Jamal speechless with tears in his eyes.
Empire airs on Wednesdays at 9 pm on Fox.
