'Empire' New Cast News: Adam Rodriguez of 'Magic Mike' Joins Season 2 Cast
Fans of both Empire and Magic Mike are about to have their minds blown. According to reports from Access Hollywood, actor Adam Rodriguez who starred in Magic Mike XXL, and previously in CSI: Miami, as well, is going to Fox for the second season of Empire, the network's hit series.
Rodriguez landed the recurring role of Laz Delgado, who is a concert promoter who is talented when it comes to hustling and smooth talking.
Delgado is a former EMT who is originally from New York, and he takes an interest in Cookie, played by Taraji P. Henson.
Rodriguez starred alongside Henson in Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself.
The last time viewers saw Cookie, she was trying to decide whether or not to return to her ex, Lucious, after he ended his engagement with Anika Calhoun.
Cookie decided he was no good for her, and moved on to Malcom DeVeaux, the head of security for Empire Records.
However, the addition of Rodriguez's character may suggest that things did not work out for either of those two romantic interests.
Rodriguez joins what is shaping up to be an all star cast for season two of Empire, which will include Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, and Ne Yo.
Before all of that, however, Rodriguez will be featured on the big screen with Channing Tatum and Joe Manganiello in the sequel to Magic Mike, which is coming to theaters next month, on July 1st.
Empire will be returning to televisions on September 23 at 9:00 pm ET. The new season will feature 18 episodes and much more drama.
