Emma Stone Cabaret News: Actress Hits Broadway in New Production of 'Cabaret' as Sally Bowles

Emma Stone made her Broadway debut as Sally Bowles in the Roundabout Theater Company's eternal revival of 'Cabaret' at Studio 54, as she proved her talent stretches far beyond what can be seen in her movie roles.

Thanks to a video which debuted on Broadway World, the rest of Stone's fandom will be able to watch the 'Crazy Stupid Love' star play the role of Bowles as she brings a heady sense of desperation of the 1920s to her portrayal of an ambitious, hard-partying, and not so talented singer in Weimar, Berlin.

The video shows Stone razzling and dazzling the audience in her red feather boa. In one scene, she sports some a racy black lace get-up complete with a leather jacket, while back-up dancers in risque clothing dance around her.

It's evident that Stone used her excellent acting skills to make up for all the singing commonly found in a 'Cabaret' production.

"When Sally dares to hope that there's a future for her and Cliff, Stone makes 'Maybe This Time' a cry that comes right from the heart. And when those hopes turn to ashes, Stone pours all that pain and rage and despair into her electrifying delivery of 'Cabaret'."

During an appearance on 'The Tonight Show', Stone revealed that she watched Alan Cumming star in the musical in 1998.

"The most inappropriate show to take a 9-year-old to. So do not bring your kids! Do not bring a child!" she told host, Jimmy Fallon.

However, Stone added that even with the adult content of the show and its production, she admitted that it turned out to be something that she loved, saying, "I fell in love with it. I don't really know why, at 9, I wanted to play that part because it's a strange part for a 9-year-old to want to play."

Stone joins Joe Masteroff, John Kander, and Fred Ebb's Tony-winning musical, where she stars opposite Alan Cumming in his Tony Award-winning role as Emcee. The production is again directed by Sam Mendes and co-directed/choreographed by Rob Marshall.
