Emma Roberts, star of the new television series, Scream Queens, and her fiance, Evan Peters, have called it quits after being engaged for just one year.

Although fans of the couple are upset to hear that they have decided to end their relationship, a source close to the pair says that the decision was mutual.

Peters and Roberts started dating in 2012 after they met on the set of Adult World, and independent film.

The couple appeared on screen again in American Horror Story. The couple were together for three years, and quietly got engaged at the end of 2014.

According to a source, their relationship just ran its course, and did not end as a result of any outside drama.

"Their three years together just ran its course," said the source in an exclusive statement to Just Jared. "They have so many great memories together but couldn't make it work in the end. The break up was amicable -- there was no drama what so ever."

Fans can take comfort in knowing that the couple was able to part ways without any of the side effects of a nasty break up.

The source confirmed also that the pair are still friends. This is good news, as they have starred together on screen, and if they plan to do so again, it is best that there is no tension between them.

The couple previously co starred on American Horror Story, and it is not unlikely that they will cross paths once again in the future, as both are working on their most recent projects with director Ryan Murphy.
