Ellie Goulding Dating Rumors: Singer Sets Record Straight About Niall Horan & Ed Sheeran Love Triangle Gossip

The highly publicized story about the love triangle between Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding and One Direction singer Niall Horan is finally clarified and officially closed for more rumors to spring up. Goulding, who is the cover of Elle U.K., had a tell-all on the false rumors regarding her being in a relationship with Sheeran but confirmed that she indeed dated Horan.

All the rumors regarding the three started when a British newspaper published a story saying that Sheeran impliedly that his 'Don't' song was about Horan stealing Goulding from him. Sheeran later on stated that the news was erased since it was erroneous but since then, reporters have made stories from it.

So now, Goulding wanted to clear up all the rumors saying, "I did go on a few dates with Niall but I was never in a relationship with Ed," Goulding shared in an interview for the magazine that features Body Confidence issue this month. "I have absolutely no idea where that came from and why it was turned into such a big thing," she added.

Goulding even goes on discussing how female artists are sometimes insulted about all the rumors attached to them. "I find it so frustrating that female musicians are constantly defined by the men they have or haven't dated," she said. "It's something I've talked about with [Taylor Swift] a lot. She definitely feels that. She gets bothered by it. It's like, you can be a great artist, you can write great songs, but the thing that everyone is going to talk about is some relationship they think you have had or not had. It's definitely something we both think happens to female artists over male artists."

But of course, moving on from all the past frustrating stories about her, Goulding shares how happy she is with her current love life, McFly's Dougie Poynter which she mentions to be the guy who she might marry. "He's been through a lot, and he has a quiet depth that I love," Goulding shared. "When I was a teenager, I fancied him but I thought he was so out of my league. Way too good-looking for me. Calvin Harris has already offered to play at our wedding. Not that we've organized one. But the offer has been made."
