'Elder Scrolls 6' Release Date News, Rumors: Fans Await For Long; Game Release Still Unknown?
News and rumors surrounding "Elder Scrolls 6" have been scarce lately, although there's a recent report hinting of a long wait for fans of the game.
UK's Express has reported back in January that the game could be released in 2019.
But Todd Howard has given an even more disappointing news for fans who are eagerly awaiting the release date of "Elder Scrolls 6."
"I should have never said a number because we have so many things," he told Games Industry. "You could add it up in different ways. You could say it's bigger or smaller. They're a long way off. I think the larger point was, no one should expect to hear about those [games] anytime soon."
He said that because of the number of titles in development, their projects oftentimes overlap, and although that's a good problem to have for the studio, it might not be for fans eagerly awaiting the release date for "Elder Scrolls 6."
Howard added, "We have the Montreal studio now and we're going to be doing different things. We feel we have a pretty good footing and we're in a particular place and time where we can try some new things and be confident that they'll find some success."
For his part, Bethesda VP Pete Hines said that they won't rush the "Elder Scrolls 6" just to appease their fanbase.
"It's rare to have franchises like the ones we have and to have people joking about 'when is Skyrim 2 coming out?' The reason they say that is because generally speaking that's what you'd be getting with another publisher in charge."
For now, however, news reports regarding the release date for "Elder Scrolls" could be chucked to mere rumors until there's confirmation from Bethesda or Todd Howard.
