Efrem Zimbalist Jr Net Worth, Heirs: Christian Actor Known as Alfred on 'Batman: The Animated Series' Survived By Children (VIDEO)
Efrem Zimbalist, Jr, one of the most recognizable voice actors of all time, has died, sparking fans to leave messages of condolence on social media sites and forums around the world. Zimbalist leaves behind his estate worth approximately $245 million, which is believed to be going to his family, consisting of his children Stephanie and Efrem Zimbalist III.
Zimbalist was born in New York City November 30, 1918, and started his acting career as Gil Hartnick in the 1946 play "The Rugged Path" at the Plymouth Theater on Broadway. Zimbalist's parents were famous: his father Efrem Zimbalist Sr. was a violinist and composer, while hi? mother Alma Gluck w?? a well-known vocalist in her era.
Zimbalist first became famous for his role as Stu Bailey in the "77 Sunset Strip" series from 1958 to 1964. In addition, Zimbalist is also remembered for playing as Inspector Lewis Erskine in "The F.B.I." television show from 1965 to 1972. Furthermore, he co-starred with his daughter Stephanie and future James Bond Actor Pierce Brosnan in the hit 1980's series "Remington Steele."
Then in the 1990's, Zimbalist's other notable role was providing the voice of the Dark Knight's loyal butler and father figure Alfred Pennyworth in the "Batman: The Animated Series" from 1992 to 1995. In addition, he reprised that role in "The New Batman Adventures" and Superman: The Animated Series" from 1997-1999. Furthermore, Zimbalist's voice acting work as Dr. Octopus (aka Dr. Otto Octavius) from the 1990's "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" is also critically acclaimed.
Since the 1990's, Zimbalist had been "The Word" announcer of Trinity Broadcasting Network, in addition he also formerly hosted a show called "Word Fr?m th? Holyland."
Zimbalist's surviving children issued the following statement:
"We ?r? heartbroken t? announce th? passing int? peace ?f ?ur beloved father, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., today ?t hi? Solvang, Calif. ranch. A devout Christian, h? actively enjoyed hi? life t? th? l??t day, showering love ?n hi? extended family, playing golf, ?nd visiting with close friends," wrote Stephanie and Efrem Zimbalist III.
Zimbalist was previously married to Emily Munroe McNair (1941-50) and fathered Nancy and Efrem III in his first marriage to McNair. He later married Loranda Stephanie Spaulding (1956-61), (1962-2007) and fathered Stephanie. Zimbalist is survived by his two children, son Efren and daughter Stephanie Zimbalist. When he passed away on May 2, 2014, he was 95 years old.
