'Ducktales' Reboot Release Date News: Animated Series Returns to Disney with All New Episodes [DETAILS & TRAILERS]
In a shocking blockbuster announcement, Disney has just revealed that it plans to revive one of its most beloved animated series 'Duck Tales' and launch all-new episodes on the Disney XD channel in the year 2017.
"'DuckTales' has a special place in Disney's TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks' comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults," said Disney XD Senior Vice President of Programming and General Manager Marc Buhaj in a statement on February 25, 2015.
"Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation."
The cartoon series based on the characters created by the deceased legendary cartoonist Carl Barks dominated the TV airwaves during its run on the Disney Afternoon timeslot from September 18, 1987 to November 28, 1990.
The original version of the series aired 100 episodes that starred the filthy rich protagonist 'Uncle' Scrooge McDuck and his undying quest to discover lost treasures across the globe in order to remain the richest duck in the world.
"The new series' adventures will once again take viewers along as Scrooge McDuck, his curious and mischief-making grandnephews-Huey, Dewey, and Louie-and the optimistic-yet-temperamental Donald Duck embark on high-flying adventures worldwide. Other beloved characters slated to be in the new stories are: Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle), Mrs. Beakley, and Webbigail Vanderquack," according to the press release.
Now it appears all the aforementioned popular characters will return in the reboot including the zany pilot and future 'Darkwing Duck' sidekick Launchpad McQuack, best known for crashing nearly every plane he's flown in his career.
Recently, Capcom re-released the popular 'DuckTales: Remastered' in 2013, (a HD remake of the 1989 Disney game based on the popular animated series), which featured some the cartoon's original voice actors including Alan Young (Scrooge McDuck) and June Foray (evil sorceress Magica De Spell).
The new DuckTales reboot cartoon is slated to launch on the Disney XD channels around the world in the year 2017.
