Duck Dynasty's John Luke Robertson & Fiancée Mary Kate McEacharn Reveal Why Their Relationship is 'Centered on God'
'Duck Dynasty' star John Luke Robertson and his new fiancée Mary Kate McEacharn revealed how God has changed their dating life after they recently announced their engagement.
The 19-year-old reality star along with his family have always been vocal about conveying their strong faith in God on various occasions, and the soon-to-be newlyweds explain how God is the cornerstone of their relationship.
"It's definitely been interesting. I guess through our dating life, I was seeing how it was for him and seeing what all of that was about. I didn't realize how much things would change though when we did get engaged. It has been very interesting, but good, all that's happening," said Willie and Korie's future daughter-in-law to Fox411.
Robertson proposed to McEacharn on her 19th birthday after getting permission from their parents. The young couple had already been dating seven months.
"We said in the beginning when we started dating that if our relationship is not centered on God and if we're not encouraging one another to stay faithful and to just love people then we have no relationship at all," said Robertson. "When I was growing up [my parents] taught me to set my own rules and guidelines, to stay pure."
McEacharn revealed that prior to her relationship with the A&E reality series star, she never had a boyfriend.
"...I had just been waiting and thought God would send someone to me," said McEacharn. "I was just very particular whenever it came to who I would date and I had to get to know him first and see if he was up to my standards."
Robertson also talked about the criticism he and his future wife faced after the young duo announced they plan on getting married in the near future.
"As far as negative people go, we decided a long time ago we weren't going to listen to them [the critics]," said Robertson.
"As far as being married goes, everyone has said something about us getting married too young and I think pretty much all of them are unmarried."
The grandson of Phil and Miss Kay Robertson also gave his fans some advice regarding God's loving nature toward humanity despite mankind's sinful nature.
"What I always remember about God is that one, He's real and everything points to that," said Robertson. "If He is real, and He's the God of the Bible, then He loves you and if you stick with Him, He's going to get you through and three, to find other people who think the same the way because life is all about relationships."
