Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson US Senate Rumors False, 'He is interested in helping the electorate know more about the gospel of Christ'

Phil Robertson is the patriarch of the family that stars on the hit A&E show "Duck Dynasty." He says he would not run for U.S. Senate despite a poll showing favorable statistics if he did decide to run.  A Democratic poll that was just released three nights ago stated that the 67-year old Robertson was the lone Republican leading the current Sen. Mary Landrieu.

The poll showed Robertson held a 4-point lead over Sen. Landrieu, with 46% compared to her 41% in a hypothetical head-to-head race.

The Duck Commander was temporarily suspended from the series after he expressed his views that homosexuality is a sin. Robertson's son, Al, revealed in The Hill Report that his dad would not be making a run for political office.

"While Phil is humbled and honored that so many fellow Louisianans have confidence in him, he has no interest in running for public office," said Al Robertson to The Hill adding. "He is interested in helping the electorate know more about the gospel of Christ, so they, in turn, can elect more godly men and women to serve and lead our great country."

The poll also demonstrated Landrieu's likely challenger, Rep. Bill Cassidy, trailed her by only one point.

The poll isn't the first time a member of the Robertson family has been rumored as a potential political contender.

In another poll back in August, some people did not want Phil Robertson's son Willie, to run for Congress. Like his father, Willie Robertson previously stated that he was also not interested in going into politics.

The critically acclaimed reality series Duck Dynasty airs on the A&E network on Wednesdays at 10pm EST.
