'Dragon Quest Heroes' News: Square Enix to Release Two Game Editions in North America on Oct. 13

Japanese video game developer Square Enix has announced that it will release two special editions of 'Dragon Quest Heroes' in North America on Oct. 13, which includes the Day One Edition and the special Collector's Edition. While one can pre-order the Day One edition via most game retail stores, the special Collector's Edition can be pre-ordered exclusively at Square Enix's North American online store.

IB Times reports that the Day One edition will be available with some exclusive in-game items like a Slime Sword and Gooey Gloves that will facilitate players in chaotic battle situations. On the other hand, the special Collector's Edition will incorporate these in-game items, in addition to a Slime plush doll, Slime chain, Slime lanyaro. It will also come with a premium treasure box package which can be used to put them all in.

In addition, in an attempt to localize the game, the publisher has added a somewhat long subtitle, 'Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and The Blight Below.' The subtitle is just not long and dramatic, but it is also meant to distinguish the game from its Japanese version.

The report further states that 'Dragon Quest Heroes' will comprise some characters from all the eight 'Dragon Quest' games published so far, while they join forces to humble multitudes of familiar foes, such as Slimes. Meanwhile, Polygon reports that the game will also introduce two new heroes, named Luceus and Aurora, who will work together with the remaining 'Dragon Quest' characters with a view to save the world.

In terms of gameplay, it is rather similar to the 'Dynasty Warriors' games from Koei Tecmo. Fans can expected it, as Omega Force, the studio responsible for the 'Warriors' franchise, has also developed it. The studio is experienced in making these spin-off titles, because it was also responsible for the 'Hyrule Warriors' game for Nintendo Wii U, featuring a similar setting to 'Dragon Quest Heroes,' but incorporating characters from the 'Legend of Zelda' games.

In all probability, the game will be an exclusive for Sony PlayStation 4 and will be available this October.
