'Downton Abbey' Season 6 Spoilers, News: The Fate of the Crawleys, Filming of Upcoming Season Underway in U.K.
While filming of the sixth and final season of 'Downton Abbey,' the British drama television series on ITV, is currently underway in the U.K., fans of the show are already keen to know what is in store for the Crawleys as well as the other estate staff in the upcoming season of the show.
According to Christian Today, even as the network is silent on the plot for 'Downton Abbey' Season 6, fans are expecting to see their favorite characters have a happy ending, as the fans believe that they deserve it. The network has already announced that the series finale will coincide with the traditional Christmas special show of 'Downton Abbey,' most fans are of the view that the series will have a light and happy ending, appropriate for the holiday season.
A recent report by Huffington Post noted that if there is one particular character in the show that deserves to find love. Many believe that it should be the always-conniving and spiteful under butler Thomas Barrow (portrayed Rob James-Collier). As the series was set in a period where homosexuality was considered to be a taboo, it would certainly be difficult to envisage Mr. Barrow coming out and seeking for a mate openly. Nevertheless, it would definitely be nice to see him with someone so that he becomes less of a villain.
In addition, 'Downton Abbey' fans also want to see Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) selecting a partner from among her suitors before the end of the long-running series. As far as her love affairs are concerned, the eldest daughter of Lord and Lady Grantham has been very unlucky since the beginning of the series. She was first troubled with the death of her husband Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens), and later her never-ending confusion regarding her choice from among her suitors made the situation worse for her. By the time the series ends, 'Downton Abbey' fans would like to see her have a partner for a long time.
These apart, fans are also of the view that the estate's butler Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) and Mrs. Hughes (Pyllis Logan) will possibly have the happiest endings in the series. At the end of the Christmas special show last year, Mr. Carson had asked for the housekeeper's hand in marriage and Mrs. Hughes accepted the proposal. In fact, viewers are really excited to see at least one couple settling happily ever after.
It is expected that 'Downton Abbey' Season 6 will premiere on ITV later this year. Fans in the U.S. fans can watch the show on PBS.
