'Downton Abbey' Season 6 Episode 9 Recap: All Characters Get Happy Ending, Wedding Bells Ring For Edith

Aside from talks about Edith's wedding in "Downton Abbey" series finale, it has been revealed that the series has given justice to a happy ending.

According to Yahoo, "Downton Abbey" gave every character a happy ending as it reached its finale. As per the publication, the start of the series is comparable to the sinking of the Titanic, but the ending can be compared to the two-by-two life bats.

A case in point on the characters who had a happy ending is Edith. According to the publication, the character was broken hearted because of Bertie, so she was prepared to move to London and live there. However, the guy surprised her with dinner at the Ritz and the flow of the events revealed that he wanted her back and he could not live without her.

In fact, Bertie wanted to marry Edith. "Would you believe me if I said I couldn't live without you?" he said as he proposed one more time. Edith also confessed to Bertie's mother and the latter said "Should I turn down the daughter-in-law who in addition to having birth and brains is entirely and unimpeachably honest?"

Alongside Edith's wedding, other characters have found their happiness in "Downton Abbey." According to Variety, Anna and Bates also had a baby while Barrow got his desire, which is the butler job at Downton Abbey.

"Downton Abbey" creator Julian Fellowes shared his thoughts about the series' finale. In his interview with the publication, Fellowes said that he had not wanted to disappoint people.

With all the merriment in the finale, Violet Crawley reportedly had the last word. She said that it made her smile, the way every year, they drank to the future whatever it might bring.
