Donald Trump News: NBC Cuts Ties with Business Magnate
NBC is ending its long time relationship with Donald Trump after the presidential candidate's recent remarks about Mexican immigrants.
NBC stated that it will no longer carry the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, which are produced by Trump.
They will also cease to employ Trump as the host for the long running reality television show, The Celebrity Apprentice, although Trump already stated that he would be giving up this role due to his presidential candidacy.
"Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBC Universal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump," said NBC in a statement. "At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values."
Trump reported to CNN that he was considering filing a lawsuit against NBC.
He said that "NBC is weak, and like everybody else is trying to be politically correct," before stating that NBC would support Brian Williams, "but won't stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be."
"We must have strong borders and no let illegal immigrants enter the United States," Trump said. "As has been stated continuously in the press, people are pouring across our borders unabated. Public reports routinely state great amounts of crime are being committed by illegal immigrants. This must be stopped and it must be stopped now. Long ago, I told NBC that I would not be doing The Apprentice because I am running for president in order to make our country great again."
Earlier this month, Trump stated that many immigrants are rapists who bring in drugs.
