'Doctor Who' Season 10 Release Date News: Michelle Gomez Going To Reprise Her Role As Missy

Actress Michelle Gomez will reprise her role as Missy in the upcoming installment of "Doctor Who."

Gomez made the official announcement at the recent MegaCon held in Orlando. She revealed that she will be the newest form of Doctor's ultimate enemy in season 10. Her character, otherwise known as "The Master," was first introduced in the episode titled "Deep Breath" and was last seen in season 9's "The Witch's Familiar."

In the previous seasons of the series, Missy was known for being cunning. However, fans should expect her character to be more cunning this time. The last scene where Missy appeared in the series was when she thought of an ingenious idea. This season, she is expected to unveil her idea.

Meanwhile, it has recently been revealed that showrunner Steven Moffat will be stepping down from his role after season 10. He also revealed that before he steps down, he will cast a non-white companion for the doctor. This is in support of the advocacy of Lenny Henry which encourages screen diversity.

"I'd be listening to what Lenny had been saying," said Moffat.

"We decided that the new companion was going to be non-white and that was an absolute decision becase we need to do better than that," he said.

He also said that the young people who watch the series have to know that they have a place in the future.

Season 2 will reveal a more acquiescent but darker Doctor.

"Doctor Who" season 10 will premiere in 2017.
