‘Doctor Who’ Season 10 Cast News: New Doctor’s Companion Replaces Coleman In Next Season?

Months following the confirmation of Jenna Coleman's exit from the series, Scottish actor/director Peter Capaldi has confirmed in a recent interview that they have already found someone to replace her as the Doctor's new companion in the next season of the British sci-fi series.

In his interview will Omelete, Capaldi confirmed that a new companion had already been chosen and that they had already been working together on the 10th season for quite some time.

"There will be a new companion, along any minute, which I am very excited about, 'cause obviously I know who that is and we've been doing a bit of work together already and it's very exciting because it's a very different sort of take on it," he said in an article published on Cartermatt.

"Clara had prior knowledge of the Doctor. It was conceived as a human connected to your timeline, and so had access to the cosmic nature of the Doctor. She understood a little about how he was. And as she was already with Matt, she knew the Daleks and the TARDIS. Now we have someone who knows very little about the Doctor," he added.

While Capaldi, who has taken the role of Twelfth Doctor since 2014, did not reveal the identity of the new companion, he said that the announcement of his new co-star will be revealed sometime in the near future.

In the previous seasons of the series, Doctor's companions have been played by Karen Gillan of "Guardians of the Galaxy," Billie Piper of "Penny Dreadful" and Coleman.

Since the departure of Coleman, there have been many speculations as to who will potentially take over her role as the companion, with "Game of Thrones" actress Maisie Williams topping the list.

Williams, however, denied the speculations and said she will no longer work on the series again.

"Doctor Who" season 10 will premiere in 2017.
