'Doctor Who' New Cast News: Maisie Williams of 'Game of Thrones' to Appear
"Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams is putting away her barbaric ways and hopping onto the TARDIS for BBC's beloved sci-fi drama and adventure series, "Doctor Who."
The 17-year-old's (who plays Arya Stark in GoT) role on the show has yet to be announced.
"I'm so excited to be working on 'Doctor Who' as it's such a big and important part of British culture," said Williams in an interview with BBC, "I can't wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we'll be shooting not too far from my hometown." For those that may not know, her hometown is located in Bristol.
Lead writer and Executive Producer Steven Moffat added, "We're thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It's not possible to say too much about who or what she's playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected way. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell."
According to The Hero Complex, Williams isn't the first "Game of Thrones" star to appear on "Doctor Who."
"Among them are Mark Gatiss (who plays Tycho Nestoris in 'Thrones'), Paul Kaye (Thoros of Myr), Ron Donachie (Rodrick Cassel), Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos Seaworth), Tobias Menzies (Edmure Tully), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Jojen Reed) and Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont)," read the site.
"Doctor Who" will return to BBC in the Fall of this year with The Doctor, Peter Capaldi, and his companion Clara Oswald, Jenna Coleman, as they embark on brand new adventures in the trusty TARDIS, helping other alien races and saving planet Earth.
