'Doctor Strange' Movie News: Details Revealed at Disney's D23 Event
As expected, Marvel Studios came out with some brand new teases and details on their slated projects at Disney's D23 Expo.
Among the projects was the highly anticipated 'Doctor Strange' film set to star actor Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular Sorcerer Supreme.
While there was no footage shown for the movie, fans who attended the D23 got to see some alluring concept art for the adaptation.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige kicked things off by first addressing what 'Doctor Strange' will do for the MCU as a whole.
"The first one I'm going to talk about today is Doctor Strange," Feige said. "The goal is to continue expanding what a comic book movie is, what the Marvel Cinematic Universe is. The comics traverse these dimensions, and film by film, we try to do that in a cinematic way."
While Cumberbatch couldn't attend the expo, he spoke about his upcoming movie in a video intro.
"He's an extraordinary character, brings in a whole other dimension-hmm, multiple dimensions-to the Marvel universe," the actor explained. He promised a "mind-blowing experience... Girls, cars, explosions, astral projection into multiple realms. The usual."
"Images in the concept art reel reveal the classic origin story: a wounded surgeon seeking alternate ways to heal his destroyed hands finds his way to a mystical Eastern sanctuary that leads him to an order that holds the keys to another dimension," writes EW.
'Doctor Strange' is set to begin production in November, while the movie will reach theaters on November 4, 2016.
