'Divorce' Season 1 Spoilers, Rumors: Sarah Jessica Parker Returns to HBO with New Series
Sarah Jessica Parker, the star of Sex in the City, will be returning to the small screen for another HBO romantic comedy television show.
She will be executive producing and starring in a new show called Divorce, which was ordered to series by HBO on Thursday. The show is a half hour long comedy that tells the tale of a divorce that is extremely drawn out.
Parker will play one of the parties in the divorce, a woman named Frances. Frances decides one day to think about her life and reassess her marriage to her husband, Robert (Thomas Haden Church).
Frances soon realizes that a fresh start is easier said than done. Also part of the cast is actresses Molly Shannon and Talia Balsam. The two play Frances' girlfriends.
The series was created by Sharon Horgan, who will also serve as an executive producer on the show, as well as the writer.
Other executive producers are Paul Simms, Alison Benson and Aaron Kaplan. The show is directed by Jesse Peretz. The show is set to begin shooting in New York City sometime this year.
In an interview with Melissa Rivers, Parker states that the topic of the show is interesting for her because she is married and she is happy in her marriage. Park turned 50-years-old in March and has been married to Matthew Broderick since 1997.
"I think marriage is wonderfully complicated and wonderfully interesting and everybody conducts their marriage differently," says Parker.
She also says that she loves the idea of telling a story in which she creates "a portrait of divorce," because it is something that many people go through.
