Allegiant Part 1 Movie Release Date, Cast News: Jeff Daniels Joins Cast for Divergent Film Series
It has been confirmed that Jeff Daniels is in final negotiations to become the new member of the cast of in the Divergent series of films.
Divergent, which will be coming from Lionsgate Studios is a Young Adult series and when Daniels closes the deal, he will be appearing in both the Allegiant: Part 1 and Allegiant: Part 2 movies.
Part 1 is being directed by Robert Schwentke and it will begin shooting this May.
There has not been an announcement made as yet about who will be directing Part 2 in the series. This movie will continue the adaptation of the bestselling book series by Veronica Roth.
Shailene Woodley stars as Tris, who is a young woman that does not fit into any of the groups which govern her post apocalyptic society and decides to lead a rebellion with the help of her friends.
Daniels will be playing the role of David, who is the leader of the Bureau of Genetic Welfare.
The Bureau of Genetic Welfare is responsible for creating the societies that Tris was living in, and during Part 2, it is revealed that the reason why they were created is evil.
The movies are being produced by Douglas Wick, Lucy Fisher and Pouya Shahbazian. Part 1 is set to be released in theaters on March 18th, 2016.
This is the second film project that Daniels has been recently involved in. He will also be starring in The Martian, Ridley Scott's drama about space rescue, alongside Matt Damon, which will debut on November 25th, 2015.
Daniels also will co star in Steve Jobs, as former Apple CEO, John Sculley. Jeff Daniels is represented by ICM Partners and Martino Management.
