Disney's 'Winnie The Pooh' Movie News: Upcoming Live Action Film Remboots Classic Cartoon
Disney is planning to release a second live-action remake of an animated classic, and this time it's about 'Winnie the Pooh.
The idea for a new movie might have spawned from the recent release of "Cinderella", which was released on March 31st, was extremely successful.
The film debuted at $70.1 million and has made almost $160 million since. Disney plans to ride this wave of live action success with a remake of "Winnie the Pooh".
In this version of the classic tale, Christopher Robin is an adult, revisiting his childhood home and with it his memories with his famous toy collection.
The film will be produced by Brigham Taylor and will be written and directed by independent filmmaker, Alex Ross Perry.
It is still not clear whether Disney will choose to use computer generation for its characters or whether they will use real animals.
This is the second time that Disney has hired an independent film maker to lead on a project. Perhaps Disney is re-purposing their animated properties in an attempt to broaden its audience base.
Their animated films have captured the interest of young viewers for decades, but parents are often hard pressed to sit through the films and find them boring and uninteresting.
Disney's turn from animation may change this for the better, making films that will be enjoyable for both children and parents alike.
Disney also plans to release several more live action versions of their animate films including Dumbo, which will be directed by Tim Burton, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan and another Alice in Wonderland.
Stay tuned for these re-imagined Disney classics which will without a doubt be enjoyable for children of all ages.
