Disney New Movie News: CCO John Lasseter Talks 'Toy Story 4', New Film Line Up
As always, Disney has some highly-anticipated sequels, spin-offs, and new properties in the making, and thanks to Disney CCO John Lasseter, and his attendance at the Cannes Film Festival, fans were able to get some much appreciated details.
One of the studio's most anticipated titles is their fourth entry into the franchise, 'Toy Story 4'. Lasseter had no clips to show, but had this to say about the film:
"I am very excited to be directing again. We're in the early stages of the film, but it's shaping up nicely. It's funny. The story is not as much a continuation of the past films, but a brand new chapter in the 'Toy Story' world."
The movie has also previously been described to act as a sort of romantic comedy, something out of the common 'Toy Story' format. That movie is set for release on June 16, 2017.
A 'Finding Nemo' spin-off was also announced a while back titled, 'Finding Dory.' Lasseter offered this update:
"Among the adventures in store this time: a dip through the Pacific Ocean where shipping containers have fallen off boats; a frightening encounter with a giant squid; wading past a kelp forest on California's northern coastline; and new friends in the form of an octopus and a whale-shark named Destiny."
On that note, 'Finding Dory' is set to premiere on June 17, 2016.
Beyond that, a movie that was said to be inspired by "talking animals that act like humans," titled, 'Zootopia' was also announced. These are the details:
"In the city of Zootopia, humans don't exist, and animals are divided into classes, where they face prejudice based on preconceived notions about their species. The plot focuses on bunny cop Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) - sidelined into a boring career of writing parking tickets because she's the first rabbit in the police force - who teams with a fox named Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) to crack a missing mammal case."
Last but not least, 'Zootopia' is set to premiere on March 4, 2016.
