'Devious Maids' Season 3 Release Date, Spoilers, Cast News: Series Cuts Edy Ganem & Drew Van Acker
The popular show on Lifetime, "Devious Maids', is reportedly trimming its cast members by dropping popular stars Edy Ganem and Drew Van Acker.
According to Deadline, the TV series is planning for a major cut-back on the cast for its upcoming season three. Although Ganem and Van Acker have lost their series regular status, they are set to appear in multiple episodes in the season.
Also, according to the report, the series regular Mark Deklin won't be returning after the second season. The show is casting new actors instead, such as Naya Rivera of the "Glee' fame will taking up a new role. Rivera will be playing Blanca, a new maid in the neighborhood who discovers a secret that changes the course of her life and the lives of those around her, according to Deadline.
Along with Rivera, the original "Devious Maids' cast member Brianna Brown is set to return to the cast as a series regular for the third season, with her character Taylor Stappord.
Talking about cut backs, the creator of the show Marc Cherry will also be absent from the showrunner's role, and replacing him will new showrunners, Ric Swartzlander and Brian Tanen.
The third season will pick up from the cliffhanger, in which the previous season had ended, when a gunman targeted the maids at Rosie and Spence's wedding. The actors, Ganem and Van Acker, who won't be seen much in season three, were among the guests at at Rosie's wedding.
Ganem's Valentina and Van Acker's Remi were among the guests interrupted by a bloody shooting that ended Season 2 in a cliffhanger. Per Lifetime's promotional material, Season 3 will kick off with the couple "struggling to connect in the aftermath of the shooting."
The third season of 'Devious Maids' is set to premiere Monday, June 1st at 9:00 pm on Lifetime.
