'Deus Ex: Mankind Divided' Release News: Title Promo Art Gets Criticism Due To ‘Black Lives Matter’ Similarities

Square Enix's "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" is coming soon, later this month, but recent reports suggest that the title's promo art has been criticized by the Black Lives Matter movement.

This week, the studio released promotional art for its forthcoming game, CBC reports. As per the publication, the game uses a slogan that is the same as one used by the Black Lives Matter movement, a reason the Montreal studio is stirring a debate online.

The image features a group of protesters against a line of weapon-carrying police officers in Moscow, Russia. It is reported that the protesters are holding a banner that reads, "Augs Lives Matters," and along with them there are other protesters holding signs that says, "Purity first!"

Critical voices suggest the banner resembles the Black Lives Matter movement, which came from the United States; it was many protesters' response to the police killing unarmed black men and women.

In this regard, BioWare gameplay designer and "Mass Effect: Andromeda" developer Manveer Heir voiced his thoughts on his Twitter account. On July 29, he wrote that he was confident that the "Deus Ex" team was very diverse. "Deus Ex#MankindDivided is GOLD! We can't wait for you all to play our game???????," he added.

"Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" is Square Enix's upcoming cyberpunk-themed action role-playing stealth video game. Set two years following the events in "Deus Ex: Human Revolution," the title follows the return of Adam Jensen, along with new tech and body augmentations.

Square Enix's "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" is set to be released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows on Aug. 23.
